Peggy Scott is executive vice president of Blue Cross
and Blue Shield of Louisiana. Blue Cross is the
largest health insurer in Louisiana with $1.8 billion
in revenues.
Scott has been in her current position since October
2005. She is responsible for finance, treasury,
strategic and business planning, actuarial,
underwriting, plan performance, member services,
internal audit, administrative services, and related
areas. She reports directly to the president and CEO.
Scott brings a wealth of executive management and
finance experience to Blue Cross from General
Health System in Baton Rouge, Novant Health, Inc.,
in North Carolina and, most recently, Pan-American
Life Insurance Company in New Orleans, where she
served as executive vice president of operations and
finance. Prior to these positions, she had a distinguished
career in public accounting and consulting with Deloitte.
She was the first woman ever designated a managing
partner of any Deloitte office since the firm's inception
in 1895.
Scott is a CPA and certified valuation analyst, and she
has served as an adjunct professor instructing
physicians at Tulane University. Her many professional
memberships include the American Institute of CPAs,
Society of Louisiana CPAs, Healthcare Financial
Management Association and National Association of
Certified Valuation Analysts. She is an editorial advisor
for the Journal of Accountancy.
Scott's community involvement has included volunteer
work with the Capital Area United Way and board
memberships for the E. J. Ourso College of Business
Dean's Advisory Council, the Superdome, Blood Center,
Junior Achievement, Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce
and Camp Fire. She was honored as the 2004 National
Financial Executive of the Year by Robert Half
International and by Tulane University as the 2004
Outstanding Alumnus of the Year.
Scott earned her bachelor's degree in accounting from
Louisiana State University in 1973 and her MBA from
Tulane in 1992.
