Harry T. Hawks is executive vice president
and chief financial officer of Hearst-Argyle
Television.
Hawks oversees all aspects of Hearst-Argyle’s
financial, accounting, tax, risk management,
investor relations, administrative, and compliance
matters. In addition, he is actively engaged
in various strategic initiatives including M&A,
IT, digital media and minority investments.
Hawks has been with the Hearst-Argyle since the
combination of Hearst Broadcasting and Argyle
Television in August, 1997. He served in a similar
capacity as a member of the founding management
of Argyle Television and its related entities
from 1992.
Prior to Argyle, Hawks was active in venture
capital and merchant banking as co-founder of
Cumberland Capital Corporation. Hawks has also
held various corporate finance positions with
Thomson McKinnon Securities and Bank of Montreal.
Hawks is a member of the National Association
of Broadcasters, Financial Executives International,
the Broadcast-Cable Financial Management Association,
the National Association of Corporate Directors
and the American Society of Corporate Secretaries.
He also serves on the board of directors of Internet
Broadcasting. Hawks is active in several community,
educational, and religious not-for-profit organizations
in New York and Connecticut.
A native of New Orleans, Hawks is a two-time
alumnus of LSU, having earned his bachelor’s
degree in business in 1975 and his MBA in 1977.
He is a 1976 recipient of the Small Business
Administration Regional Award for excellence
in small business consulting. He was inducted
into LSU’s E. J. Ourso College of Business
Hall of Distinction in 2002 and serves on the
E. J. Ourso College Dean’s Advisory Council.
