Carol M. Calkins is the National Partner in Charge
of PricewaterhouseCoopers' Transaction tax group
which is comprised of 17 partners and more than
300 staff. PricewaterhouseCoopers, included in
the "Big Four" accounting firms, has locations
in 150 countries and territories. PricewaterhouseCoopers
is headquartered in New York City with 9,400 partners
and over 124,500 employees.
Calkins joined the Multistate tax practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1986. Calkins also
leads the PARR™ business unit, which is the firm's accounts payable recovery
service offering. She has also served as PricewaterhouseCoopers' National Co-Chair on
Diversity and Worklife Quality. Calkins served as the state tax supervisor for Sun Oil
Co. of Delaware, responsible for tax compliance, audit, legislation, litigation and planning.
During her six years with Sun, she helped formulate proactive state tax legislation in
Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
After graduating from LSU in 1970 in Accounting, she was a field auditor for the Louisiana
Department of Revenue and Taxation in Baton Rouge and later a supervisor in Dallas.
Calkins is a nationally recognized specialist on state taxation. She is a member of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Texas Society of CPAs, Institute of
Professionals in Taxation, International Accounts Payable Professionals, and TTARA. She has
published several articles on electronic commerce, the deregulation of the electric utility
industry and the impact of legislation on the oil and gas industry. She also served as the
Dallas chapter president of the Institute of Management Accountants and vice-president of
the Dallas chapter of the LSU Alumni Association. Calkins recently served on the board and
the finance committee for the Dallas Theater Center and as treasurer of the Dallas Theater
Center Endowment Fund. She currently serves on the Grants and Nominating Committees of TACA,
the umbrella organization for funding the performing arts in Dallas County. Additionally,
she serves on the Partners for Excellence Board of the E.J. Ourso School of Business at LSU
Baton Rouge.
