David M. Eppler is President, CEO, and Director
of Cleco Corporation. Cleco is a Louisiana company
that operates several businesses in the electrical
services industry. Cleco Power provides electric
service to about 250,000 Louisiana customers at
their homes, businesses, and manufacturing plants.
Cleco Midstream Resources is a regional energy
services group that develops and operates electric
power generation facilities, invests in and develops
natural gas pipelines and other gas-related assets,
and provides energy services to organizations
that operate electric utility systems. The company
also operates several smaller businesses in the
industry. Cleco is listed on the New York Stock
Exchange under the symbol CNL.
Eppler, a native of New Mexico, earned a BS in
math (1972) and an MBA with a specialization in
accounting (1974) from the University of New Mexico,
Albuquerque. He joined Cleco in 1981 as manager
of Investor Relations and Finance and served as
an executive officer in several divisions within
the company until he assumed his current position
in April of 2000. He served as Vice President
of Financial Services, Vice President of Finance
and Rates, Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer,
Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
for Cleco.
Eppler was Director of Finance and Investor Relations
for Public Services Company of New Mexico (1976-1981).
He also worked as a Senior Tax Specialist for
Peat Marwick Mitchell in Albuquerque (1974-1976)
before he joined Public Services Company of New
Mexico.
Eppler is active in several professional
and civic organizations. He has served as president
of the YMCA and the United Way of Central Louisiana,
and as chair of the American Heart Association
and Committee of 100. He is a past board member
of Southwest Power Pool and Southeastern Electric
Reliability Council. He currently serves on the
E. J. Ourso College of Business Executive Advisory
Board and the Board of Directors of EEI, Association
of Edison Illuminating Companies, Central Louisiana
Chamber of Commerce, Council for a Better Louisiana
and Hibernia National Bank. Eppler will be
sworn in as the Chairman of the Committee of 100
for Louisiana in 2002.
