Richard E. Zuschlag is the president and Co-Chariman
of the Acadian Ambulance and Air Med Services,
Inc. Zuschlag has led Acadian from a fledgling
service with two ambulances and eight medics in
1971 to the largest private ambulance service
in the nation and a national leader in the use
of advanced technology for the delivery of out-of-hospital
emergency medical care.
In 1999 Microsoft Chairman Bill
Gates recognized Acadian's technology leadership
in "Business @ The Speed of Thought."
In the same year the Smithsonian's National Museum
of American History included Acadian's Computer
Telephony Integration Technology in its Permanent
Research Collection. Zuschlag is a member of the
board of directors of numerous organizations,
including Bank One, Louisiana; Bank One, Acadiana
Region; and Datex Spectrum, L.L.C.
He has been honored as the Businessman
of the Year for the state of Louisiana by the
small Business Administration in Washington, D.C.,
in 1980, as the Marketer of the year by Sales
and Marketing International of Greater Baton Rouge
in 1988, and as a Distinguished Citizen by the
EvanglineArea Council of the Boy Scouts in 1995.
Zuschlag
is the final speaker in the Fall 2000 MBA Distinguished
Speaker Series. Zuschlag will discuss not only
the success of the company over the last 30 years,
but he will also discuss the many challenges the
company has faced in the past. He will also talk
about the strategy for moving forward into the
20th century in a highly complex, highly competitive
health care environment.
