Kathryn M. Sullivan, CPA, CLU, is president and
chief executive officer of Blue Cross and Blue
Shield of Louisiana, the state's largest health
insurance company. Sullivan is the first woman
to serve as president and CEO in Blue Cross's
66-year history.
Her career with Blue Cross began in 1982 and includes
executive management experience in nearly every
division of the organization, including financial,
operations, marketing, managed care, and benefits
administration. Notes as an innovative problem
solver skilled at financial and operational analysis,
she has served as a corporate strategist and key
member of the Blue Cross's Executive Management
Committee since 1993. She earned an MBA from the
LSU Flores Executive MBA Program and is recognized
as a motivational manager who has established
strong working relationships at all levels.
The Greater Baton Rouge Business Report honored
Sullivan by selecting her for their Influential
Women in Business 2000 list. Her appearance on
the list places her in prestigious company as
one of only nine women chosen this year.
