The Practice of Business is a one-hour credit course that is required for all full-time Flores MBA students. The course is composed of three modules: professional development workshops, site visits, and the Flores MBA Distinguished Speaker Series.
Professional development workshops vary every semester with topics ranging from etiquette to business writing to interviewing skills. These seminars are designed to assist Flores MBA students in obtaining a competitive advantage over other individuals who already have several years of work experience.
As a part of the Practice of Business course, site visits expose students to various processes that may be encountered on a daily basis in a full-time position. Whereas a textbook can describe workflows and processes, there is no substitute for seeing this firsthand. Students are able to view various work aspects of different business settings, and several strategic approaches to business opportunities and challenges. Some examples of businesses that were visited by Flores MBA students include: Coca-Cola, Ferrara Fire Apparatus, Community Coffee, Associated Grocers, and Kleinpeter Dairy.
The Flores MBA Distinguished Speaker Series was established to allow students the opportunity to meet top business executives. Three different executives every semester visit to share their anecdotes and "secrets of success" with the Flores MBA students. This series allows Flores MBA students to gain insight into successful businesses from the top leaders of those organizations.
